Concrete is a fantastic building material, allowing for a variety of standard and not so common finishes. Traditional concrete finishes – for sidewalks, concrete slabs and parking pads – consist of troweling, edging and broom finishes but here are a few more options you might like to consider. An exposed aggregate finish is created by washing away the top layer of cement, revealing the natural stone aggregates below. A salt finish is created when rock salt is sprinkled on top of wet cement and later scrubbed away leaving a unique, pitted finish. Other options include coloured or stained concrete, concrete stamping and even concrete polishing. The possibilities are many so when having concrete poured, consider your finish carefully.
